The Hive Screenings: Poets on Permits
- Doors Open at 7 pm
- Screening starts at 7:30 pm
For this session of The Hive Screening, we're excited to announce that we will be screening Poets on Permits - a documentary on migrant workers in Singapore, and their poetry, made by Uptake Media.
We also have an exciting panel planned with Upneet Kaur-Nagpal, the director behind this documentary, as well Shivaji Das, The Migrant Worker Poetry Competition founder, and local esteemed poet, Alvin Pang, who was named 2005 Young Artist of the Year (Literature) by the National Arts Council.
50% of ticket sales will go to HOME, an NGO in Singapore dedicated to Migrant Workers.
Poets on Permits
Five captivating people from Bangladesh, Philippines, India, China and Indonesia, share their personal stories and views on the local migrant worker life. The documentary features their poetic talent, and hopes to bring us closer as a society - realising that at the end of the day, we all have common goals - of home, love and happiness.
